As you can see in the photograph the control box has three buttons. When you depress the large red button on the left part way down the jaws on the loader snap shut capturing a big load of coal. Depress the red button further and the bucket rises, enters the tipple and when you release the button it drops it's load of coal in the tipple hopper. Pressing the green button on the right lowers the bucket from the tipple and down to get another load. When you have a hopper car under the tipple, pressing the center (small red) button activates an electromagnet releasing the stored coal into your car. The operating instructions explain how to lubricate the motor and gears and how to re-string the unit if necessary.
